How to buy your product?

  1. If you are using credit cards, you could purchase directly via WQ.
    From WQ Menu, Tools=>Options, Registration tab.
    Click the "Register here" link to start the registration process.
    If you want to pay via other payment types, please visit the following URL for the detail procedures:
    Check/Money Orders
    Bank/Wire Transfer
    Phone Orders
  2. After the payment is processed, you will receive an email with the license key.
  3. Enter the license key in the Key field of your Registration tab, and click the "OK" button to finish the registration process.
    If the key is incorrect, WQ will notify you that license key is not valid.Otherwise, the registration process is successful and all features are ready to use.

How do I buy your product with Phone Orders?

Phone orders may be placed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To place a phone order:
  1. Have your credit card and email address available.
  2. Call toll free from the US or Canada by dialing: 1-877-353-7297
    or call Internationally by dialing: 1-952-646-5331
  3. Request Web Questionnaire, Product ID: 12952-6.
After you have placed the order, an order confirmation email will be sent that will include instructions on how to download the software.

How do I buy your product with Check / Money Order

To place an order and pay by check or money order:
  1. Click the following URL:Order online
  2. On the Web Questionnaire page, Click the "Order Now" Button.
  3. On the "Purchase Details" page, select "Check/Money Order" from the drop down list.
  4. On the "Order Summary Page," Click the "Place Your Order" Button.
On the page that follows payment instructions will be presented to you. You will need to send a check or money order to the address listed on the final page. The software will not be available for download until funds have been received.

How do I buy your product with Bank/Wire transfer?

To place an order and pay by bank or wire transfer.
  1. Visit the following URL: Order Online.
  2. On the Web Questionnaire page, Click the "Order Now" Button.
  3. On the "Purchase Details" page, select "Bank/Wire Transfer" from the drop down list.
  4. On the "Order Summary Page", Click the "Place Your Order" Button.

    On the page that follows payment instructions will be presented to you. An invoice will be sent to you via post in the next 5-6 business days. Simply fill out the pertinent information at your bank. Upon receipt of funds an email will be sent to you as confirmation of your purchase.

    For Bank/Wire Transfer and Giro customers: The invoice sent to you via post will be the same. At that time you may use either method for payment.

What will happen after the trial period ends?

You will still be able to view/edit questionnaire, receive replies. However, you could not send invitation emails or publish questionnaires.

So what's the difference between the versions of Web Questionnaire?

Are there any annual or monthly fees I have to pay in order to use WQ?

There are no additional costs for you to use WQ.

How do I upgrade to the Enterprise version from the Professional version?

  1. You will need to login to Compressweb website first using the following URL:
    http://www.compressweb.com/index.php?module=users&norm_user_op=signup
    The account name & password should be included in your notification email after you purchased.
  2. After login, navigate to the following URL and click the "upgrade" button.
    http://www.compressweb.com/index.php?module=kcart&KCART_user_op=upgrade
  3. Select the version that you want to upgrade, and finish the checkout process.

Could I buy one version and upgrade to another version later?

Yes, you could buy the Professional version and later upgrade to the Enterprise versions. However, you have to pay the price difference between the versions.

When I register your product, I get the following message:"Bad Code. Your application might not be the latest. Please download the latest one in our website and retry to buy it."

  • You don't have to click "Register Here" if you have already got a license. Instead, you have to click on the "OK" button after you enter the license key in the Registration tab.
  • If WQ displays "invalid license key", the key is not valid. Otherwise, if WQ does not show any message, it means the key is accepted.

What is an “Extended Download Service”? How do I use this service?

  • Extended download service is offered by the RegNow Company, not Compressweb. Since you could always download the latest version from our website, it is not necessary to purchase this service.
  • If you have purchased this item, you should have received a URL to download WQ in RegNow's email. Click it to download the program.

How do I receive the software I purchased?

I received a license key, where do I put it?

  • Please enter the license in the Key field of the Registration tab, and click OK button to validate.
  • If the key is incorrect, WQ will notify you "Invalid license key". Otherwise, the key is validated and all features are unlocked.

My new system has a new UserName. How to I get a new license?

  1. Please give us the values of your UserName & SerialNo.
    You could find these settings from WQ Menu, Tools=>Options, Registration tab.
  2. Please also give us the version that you are using.
    You could find this from WQ Menu, Help=>About.
    Look for "Web Questionnaire Version" with a number following it.

I have re-installed my system, how do I get a new license?

  1. Use the username/password to logon to Compressweb. This is included in the purchasing email you got after you made the payment.

  2. After logon, use the following URL to re-host. Enter your new disk serial No to generate a new license key.

EqAddIn2.dll cannot be installed or is missing when I start MS Outlook.

  1. Exit Outlook if running.
  2. Delete %Userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\extend.dat
    For example, if your user name is "Leo Kerr" and, the file is possibly
    "C:\Document and Settings\Leo Kerr\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\extend.dat"
    Note, some of the directories are hidden, you may need to show hidden file in order to see them.
  3. Install WQ again.

  4. Start Outlook, see if the problem is fixed.

I had already downloaded the demo version of the software. Is that the same thing as the real software?

  • The demo version needs a key to unlock all the features.
    Please enter the license in the "Key" field of the Registration tab, and click the "OK" button to validate.
    You could find this from WQ Menu, Tools=>Options, Registration tab.
  • If the license key is incorrect, WQ will notify you "Invalid license key".
    Otherwise, the registration process is done and all features are unlocked and ready to use.

How do I insert a comment in the questionnaire?

  • When creating a new question, Select Comment=>Label. Then input your comment.

Could I change the predefined answer library?

  1. Right now the built-in answer library could not be changed.
    However, you could save your questions into the question library.
  2. Right click on the question in the Tree Window, and select Add into Question Library.
  3. After that, when adding a question, select "Question Library" instead of "Question" to add your predefined questions.

I get the error "Not edit mode. Cannot add/remove items"

  • After the questionnaire was sent, it will be copied to the reply directory and you are not able to modify the questionnaire in the reply directory.
    Otherwise, the replies may not match the questionnaire edited.

Could I change the message displayed after the questionnaire is submitted?

You could redirect the message to your own URL.
You will need to:
  1. Compose a HTML with the intended message first, and copy the files to your web server.
  2. Double click on the top-most node of the Tree windows in WQ. The questionnaire property dialog will appear.
  3. Fill in the URL in the "Redirect url" field.
  4. Send the questionnaire out and submit the questionnaire.
  5. The URL will be displayed instead of the default message.

How do I change the logo of the questionnaire?

  • Double click on the topmost node in the Tree Window, a dialog will appear.
    Change the "Logo" to your corresponding logo file

When I upload our logo, it comes out very big, and I can’t seem to make it smaller. Is there a trick to this?

  • You may need to resize the image to make it smaller.
    You could use image tools like Acdsee for this purpose, or there is free service over the Web like the following:
    http://www.resize2mail.com/ , which allows you to upload image, files and resize the image for you.

I have a gmail account, could I use it to send invitation emails?

The steps to configure SMTP for gmail if you get a gmail account:
  1. Download our latest version here:
    http://www.compressweb.com/download/wq40setup.exe
  2. In the Settings for Outgoing Mails, select "Use SMTP Server".
    Enter "smtp.gmail.com" as the Server.
    Enter 465 as the Server Port.
    Check on the "Server Needs Authentication".
    Enter you Account/Password in gmail.
    Check on the "This server requires a secure connection."
  3. For incoming emails, please disable the "Enable POP3 access".
    WQ Menu, Tools=>Options, Mail Settings/Incoming Mails.
  4. Make sure that "Enable Outlook Add-in" is checked.
    From WQ Menu, Tools=>Options, Mail Settings/Mail Add-in settings.
  5. Configure your Outlook to retrieve the replies in your gmail accounts.
    You need to add an account in Outlook that could receive emails from your gmail.
    Upon receiving replies in Outlook, our Outlook add-in will copy the replies to WQ.

The mails server notifies me the message "550 Relay denied".

  • It could be that your SMTP server requires authentication to send out emails.
  • You may need to check the "Server Needs Authentication" and fill out the
    user name & password.
  • You could find this setting from WQ Menu, Tools=>Options, Outgoing mails.

Is there anyway to prevent people from filling it out twice from the same email?

  1. Insert a question using WQ.
  2. Add a Text input. Check both the "Reply must have value" and "Set as ID" option.
  3. Publish your questionnaire.
  4. From WQ Survey View, Survey=>Extend Endtime, uncheck the "Allow Duplicate Replies" option.
  5. Although the questionnaire could be answered multiple times, all additional replies will be dropped by WQ. WQ determine if two replies are the same using the text value that has the "Set as ID" property enabled.

Some replies stays in Outlook inbox, but the result is not added to WQ?

  • You could click on the "Email Questionnaire" icon on the toolbar of your Outlook.
    It will ask you "Do want to check for lost replies of EQ in inbox?".
    Click "Yes" to collect replies in your inbox folder.

I cannot receive replies anymore! It worked fine last week!

There are two possibilities:
  1. Please check if the endtime of your questionnaire has expired.
    From WQ Survey View, Select the questionnaire, check if the "End Time" expires.
    If yes, please extend it again.
    From WQ Survey View, Survey=>Extend Endtime.
  2. Do you turn off "Allow Duplicate" option?
    You could check this from WQ Survey View, Survey=>Extend Endtime.
    If "Allow Duplicate Replies" is unchecked, then each email address is not allowed to have more than one reply. Otherwise, it will be dropped.
    You could turn this off to get the additional replies from the same email address.

The "Email Questionnaire" button in Outlook disappears. How do I activate it again?

Please try the following steps and see if it works.
  • Open Outlook
  • Select the Tools menu
  • Click on Options.
  • Click on Other.
  • Click On Advanced Options.
  • Click On Addin-Manager.
  • If “Email Questionnaire Outlook Add-in” is not checked, check the box and restart Outlook
If this does not work, please try the following method again:
  • On the Outlook menu, Help=>About.
  • Check if there is a "Disabled Items". If there is, click “Disabled Items”.
  • See if "Email Questionnaire add-in" appears .
  • Select the add-in and click Enable.

For Outlook 2007 users, please try the following steps
  • Open Outlook
  • Select the Tools menu
  • Click on Trust Center.
  • Click on Add-ins.
  • At Manage combo box, choose "Exchange Client Extension" then click Go.
  • If "Email Questionnaire" is not checked, check the box and restart Outlook 2007.

Is there a way for me to gather the raw data, or even better export it

  • In the Survey View, you could see the individual reply of the
    questionnaire.
  • You could also export the questionnaire result to Excel.
    From WQ Survey View, Survey=>Export=>Excel.

Could I input customer responses on my own?

  • In WQ 4.0, we provide a new "Data View" to see the individual replies. You could also manually enter a new response in the Data View. The URL for downloading the new version could be found in the following link:

    However, the editing feature is disabled in the trial version. You will need to purchase the Enterprise version in order to use this feature.
